The story of how coffee producers got together and opened a roastery in Germany
By Bram De Hoog of Paso Paso
Since the inception of the coffee trade the division of labour and rewards has never changed. Farmers Farm, and Roasters Roast. As a consequence, coffee producers have never been able to fully benefit from the opportunities at the end of the supply chain. Regardless of the quality sold, commodity or specialty. Producers only receive a slice of the coffee industry’s total valuation. In this talk I will explain why I do not believe that something as simple as geographic distance should be such a barrier that prevents honest, hard-working people from being able to fulfil the full potential of the product they produce.
